It all started in 1979 when Rob Kaplan founded Dakine on Maui, Hawaii to distribute surf equipment. Since the company expanded to North America in 1986, Dakine has added numerous extreme and fun sports to its line of equipment. These include other summer sports such as mountain biking, skating and kite surfing as well as activities such as snowboarding and skiing. Thanks to the close cooperation and exchange of information with active athletes and their feedback, products can be continuously optimized.
